A Ribeye is a seriously powerful craft so it is wise to take professional instruction, to learn local rules and regulations and always wear a life preserver when boating.

Ribeye offer a training service to anyone not experienced with RIBs so that you can learn the ropes. You can choose from many courses in line with your experience. The Royal Yachting Association qualifications gained are recognised world-wide.

The "National Powerboat Certificate" is the course we recommend for customers new to the sport. Obtaining this certificate will also enable you to gain the "International Certificate of Competence". The ICC is now needed in all E.C. countries in order to use your RIB in their waters.

For more experienced customers who wish to use their RIBs for coastal passage making and cruising by day and by night the RYA "Advanced Powerboat course" is more appropriat

The centre is run from the heart of Fowey, Cornwall and is fully recognized by the RYA for theory / practical powerboat and yachting courses. We are fortunate to operate all year round due to the warmer Cornish climate.

We enjoy a Ribeye 650 powered by a 4 stroke Yamaha 115HP outboard, a great combination! The centre also provides own boat training / familiarization and ladies only courses (female instructor). Our classrooms are equipped with the latest facilities including interactive whiteboards for theory based courses such as Radar, VHF and First Aid. We also have a pool within walking distance for sea survival courses, whilst Fowey harbour provides a beautiful backdrop with a variety of challenges.

Southampton Water Activities Centre

SWAC is owned and managed by Southampton City Council. It is a purpose built water sports centre situated in the heart of Southampton's historic waterfront area adjacent to Ocean Village Marina. The Centre operates on the lower reaches of the River Itchen and Southampton Water, offering water sports and outdoor activities to schools, colleges, business, and the local community in general.
The Centre is recognised by the Royal Yachting Association for Dinghy Sailing, Powerboating, Windsurfing, Shorebased Navigation, Sail Cruising, First Aid, Sea Survival, VHF, Diesel Engine Maintenance and Instructor Training courses.
The centre offers powerboat courses to people from 8 years upward, using a selection of boats from our fleet of 16 powerboats that includes a Ribtec 455 and 655 and two Ribeye 785’s powered by single Yamaha 200hp and twin Yamaha 115hp’s. Courses on offer range from RYA Level 1 through Level 2, Intermediate and Advanced to Advanced Instructor level.
The centre also offers one-to-one training for individuals or small groups who may require a specific course or specialist training tailored to their particular needs. Skills covered range from mooring on particularly tricky berths to high speed navigation or the use of onboard electronic navigation equipment.
The centres location is within easy access to the Solent, making it an the ideal place to learn the skills to navigate and skipper a high speed powerboat with popular destinations such as Hamble, Cowes, Portsmouth, Beaulieu, Lymington and Yarmouth all within easy reach.

Canary Powerboats are a powerboat training centre dedicated to providing the highest possible standards of tuition, safety and equipment all at competitive prices.  We offer powerboat coourses, skippered RIB charter and bare boat RIB charter from our base in Fuerteventura.  We specialise in Power Boat Level 2 and Training is available 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year from our base in Fuerteventura , the Canaries.

Our students range from complete novices through to those who have been boating for a while but not got round to acquiring a qualification.

Our new teaching boat is a Ribeye 785 fitted with a 225hp Yamaha four stroke engine.  This boat named Fuerte Gerti was commissioned in July 2008 and arrived here in August.  Our craft are maintained to the highest possible standards.  Ribeye RIBs provide an excellent combination of comfort, safety and speed.
